Creating a group is simple. Open the app, tap the "+" button or "Create Group" on the home screen, give your group a name (e.g., "Summer Trip 2026" or "Apartment"), and optionally add a description and choose a currency. You can then invite members by sharing an invite link or adding friends directly from your contacts.

Navigate to your group, tap "Add Expense," and fill in the details: who paid, the total amount, a description, and how to split it among group members. You can also add a category and attach a photo of the receipt for reference. The expense will be instantly visible to all group members.

CostSplit offers three flexible splitting methods:

• Equal split: The expense is divided equally among all selected members
• Exact amounts: You specify the exact amount each person owes
• Percentage split: You assign a percentage of the total to each person

You can also choose which group members are involved in each expense, so not everyone has to be included every time.

Go to your group and check the balances section to see who owes whom. CostSplit simplifies debts to minimize the number of transactions needed. To record a payment, tap on a balance and select "Settle Up." Enter the amount being paid and confirm. The balance will be updated for everyone in the group.

Yes! You can add non-app users to your group as "friends." They won't have their own account, but you can track expenses on their behalf. When they're ready to join, they can download the app and link to their existing group profile. You can also share a summary of balances with them via a link.

Yes, CostSplit fully supports multiple currencies. Each group has a default currency, but you can add individual expenses in any currency. The app will track all amounts in their original currency and show converted balances in the group's default currency for easy settlement.

There are several ways to invite friends to a group:

• Share link: Generate an invite link and send it via any messaging app
• Invite code: Share your unique group invite code that friends can enter in the app
• Add directly: If they're already your friend on CostSplit, add them directly to the group

Absolutely. We take security seriously. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored securely on our servers. We never sell your personal or financial data to third parties. Your expense information is only visible to members of your groups. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
